GaP is an excellent alternative to ZnTe for electrooptic sampling of THz-frequency radiation because of its high-frequency phonon band at 11 THz, the highest available among all zincblende crystals. GaP is suitable for broadband (0.3–7 THz) terahertz pulse generation and detection with femtosecond Ti:Sapphire laser, as well as with Yb-doped femtosecond laser at 1030nm. GaP crystal is used in terahertz time domain spectroscopy and terahertz imaging.
